Collage Environment

 Collage Environment

For this project I took the idea of the song "Rocket Man" by Elton John, and instead of using his lyrics to visually express his song I incorporated pictures relevant to Elton John and images showing relevance representing the song.

Logo critique

Below I take 5 familiar logos and critique the nature of the logo and its effects on its customers.

McDonalds:

McDonalds has been known for its golden arches since the empire company first came about. The "golden arches" logo is outside of every McDonalds nice and big so people passing by know McDonalds is here. I describe the way McDonalds presents this logo as a very "in your face" kind of logo. The targeted audience is definitely directed towards a variety of people, because when it comes down to it everyone needs to eat and McDonalds wants you to buy their food when you're hungry. The McDonalds logo is for sure a successful representation for McDonalds, personally when I see McDonalds "golden arches" the first thing I think of is fries because to me the yellow arches remind me of their addicting fries... and I'm sure others have the same thoughts. This logo makes McDonalds so successful because of the familiarity that is not only in this country but world-wide, which is very important for customers. McDonalds customers often see McDonald's "golden arches" as a comfortable sign for fast- great tasting food. This logo has created long term success for the McDonalds corporation.

Apple:

So everyone knows this logo. Apple, the most powerful company to date, taking over technology world-wide. This logo is so simple yet backs such a huge franchise. This logo targets a variety of people just as the McDonalds golden arches does. This logo also has the characteristic of familiarity and comfort. This logo perfects simplicity in that the company name is "Apple" and the logo is a simple silver-tech looking apple. Perfect, simple, and powerful.

Lucky Charms:
Lucky Charms, the popular cereal with the delicious marshmallow pieces that everyone loves has a logo that clearly says "Lucky Charms" in yellow and red, which is a common duo of colors used for a variety of logos just like McDonalds for example which was mentioned earlier in this blog. Red is a very strong color that always catches the eye and is commonly used for logos of brands. The Lucky Charms logo also has a rainbow theme and a leprechaun as a mascot, clearly targeting a younger crowd of children.

Nike:

Nike is one of the most simple yet powerful logos for athletic apparel. The Nike swoosh is very well known and comfortable for most people. This logo doesn't stand alone most people know the saying that Nike stands for "just do it." The swoosh and "just do it" are very powerful for the Nike empire and have continued to carry on successfully. The simplicity of this icon makes for a strong representation because its so simple and easy to identify, other benefits of Nike's simple logo is that it can be put on all their apparel and easily identified. The logo is also beneficial in that it does not lean to one sex, it is a unisex-type of logo.

Mastercard:
Mastercard... another yellow and red logo!!! I researched some of the most popular logos and three out of five of my picks consist of the classic red and yellow! Although red and yellow are commonly used colors for company logos most are still very identifiable and familiar. The MasterCard logo is no stranger to most. The simplicity of MasterCards logo helps it stick. The simplicity of the logo always gives a more mature feel for a more mature audience because well... it is a credit card empire.

digital arts class intro

My name is Riley Sindone, Junior at University of Tampa, currently blogging for my class ART210- digital beginning arts. Never have taken a digital arts class and I am excited to embark on a new learning experience :-) The first day using the illustrate program was cool yet a little frustrating learning where all the tools were and how to utilize them. Down below is an irrelevant but adorable picture of my baby dog, Augie. <3
